 Mike Sutherland
Mike was born in Atlanta
and grew up in Calhoun, Georgia. After the
passing of his father when he was ten, Mike
helped support his mom and three younger
siblings. During high school, Mike kept
a full-time job and was still able to letter
in four varsity sports and graduated with
honors. After graduating from high school,
he attended Reinhardt College for two years.
Then, Mike went to the University of Georgia
on a full scholarship and majored in Forestry.
After graduation, his career was grew quickly
towards the landscape industry. Mike has
been in the landscape industry for over
22 years, having been involved in such projects
as the IBM Tower, Carter Center, Zoo Atlanta,
White Water in Marietta, Towne Lake and
numerous residential estates. Mike joined
Habersham Gardens in 1994, overseeing the
maintenance division of the company. Under
the previous owners, Mike was made Vice
President after being with the company for
three years and in 1998 was made the General
Manager. From 1994 to buying the company
in 2003, Mike has played a major role in
all departments of the company.
Today, as President of Habersham Gardens,
he is involved in all aspects of the company.
After purchasing the company, there was
an apparent need to open a South Atlanta
office. Mike currently oversees the new
office located in Locust Grove, Georgia.
When Mike is not working, he enjoys fishing,
hunting, and attending UGA football games
and going to church. He resides in Newnan
with his wife, Vicki and their three children
Matthew, Hannah Grace and Zachary.
 Steve
Cafiero
Born in upstate New York, Steve Cafiero
majored in Biology at the University of
Colorado in Boulder prior to moving to Georgia
in 1997. His love of the outdoors played
a huge factor in his career, where at the
age of sixteen, Steve started working in
the construction field and later moved into
the landscape industry.
He began working for Habersham Gardens nine
years ago as an assistant foreman and is
now an owner of the company. Steve manages
the landscape design and installation departments
of Habersham Gardens' north office in Atlanta,
Georgia. Steve works directly with residential
customers interested in taking that first
step in redefining their tired landscape
and helps them turn it into their own private
outdoor sanctuary.
When Steve's not fulfilling his customer's
dreams, he enjoys the simplicity of being
outside. He's an avid golfer, angler, hiker
and all-around outdoor enthusiast.
 Jerry
Bell
Jerry was born in Southeastern Missouri
and graduated from Southeast Missouri State
University with a BS Degree in Accounting.
He was an auditor and controller for Enterprise
Leasing in their St. Louis, Missouri and
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida offices before moving
to Atlanta in 1991.
While living in Atlanta, Jerry has been
involved in the accounting and sales areas
of companies in the swimming pool and construction
industry before joining Habersham Gardens
as their controller in 2000. Three years
later, Jerry partnered with fellow employees
Mike Sutherland and Steve Cafiero to purchase
Habersham Gardens from the retiring owners.
He currently oversees the accounting and
advertising departments, as well as the
companies' retail garden center.
In addition to his full-time commitments
with Habersham, Jerry is a real estate agent
for Harry Norman Realtors and is a very
active member of the intown community. He
has two children; Geoffrey, a Marine stationed
in North Carolina and Christian, a sophomore
in high school.
