We’re all aware that Atlanta is experiencing record-breaking heat this summer and nobody knows it better than Habersham Gardens’ landscape crews. We appreciate the hard work they do for our customers every day and Monday’s luncheon was a chance for them to cool off, enjoy some great food prepared by Deb and have a few laughs with their colleagues.

We ran a free giveaway this summer where five lucky winners received a complimentary on-site landscape consultation with our talented landscape designer, Kara Hames. One of those winners recently sent us this very nice note about her experience so we thought we’d share it with you. Way to go, Kara!
“Wanted to personally thank you for my free Habersham Gardens yard consultation. It was such an enjoyable experience (despite the HEAT). I learned so much from Kara and have been so motivated to work in the yard since I met with her last Thursday evening.
I have always enjoyed shopping at Habersham & have been a regular customer for many years. But having Kara walk through my yard with me, making suggestions and giving advice was such a treat. I found her ideas to be smart and practical. She is currently preparing a budget for a small project that I hope is the first of many.
Sincere thanks,
Susan S.

If you’re wondering why your grass has turned a lovely shade of brown, Habersham’s Senior Account Manager, William McMullen, is here to explain the possible causes and offer solutions…
As you know, fescue lawns become stressed from the heat and humidity during Atlanta’s hot summers and this one has been a scorcher. Fescue performs best during cooler months and this is why it is classified as a cool season turf. Brown Patch Fungus attacked fescue turf again this summer so if you’re seeing dead or brown areas in your turf, it could be the culprit and you are not alone. Fortunately, cooler fall temperatures will signal the end of our fungus season.
It is critical that all fescue lawns be aerated and seeded properly to ensure a good stand of fescue turf and healthy root development before winter. Habersham Gardens’ aerating and overseeding program will begin during the first part of September, depending on both temperature and rainfall. Certain areas of your turf may require complete renovation depending on damage and thinning. These renovated areas need to be tilled, seeded, and covered with straw to help ensure success.
Our Fescue Rescue program fills up fast so if you would like a quote on aerating and overseeding your lawn or would like to be placed on the schedule now, contact William McMullen at 404-873-4702, ext. 2389.
