New
Fall Plants are arriving daily at Habersham Gardens!
Excitement builds as many of the
new fall plants begin to arrive here at the garden center. While other parts of
the nation will be wrapping up their gardening seasons soon, lucky gardeners
here in the South are getting ready for the second planting season as fall
temps become milder.
Here are just a few of the new fall plants, arriving
daily:
Salvia
'Mystic Spires Blue'
Mystic
Spires Blue is the first dwarf or compact selection of the well-loved Indigo
Spires. It will work well with perennials like purple coneflowers and summer
phlox, or combined with yellows like melampodium, black-eyed Susans and New
Gold lantana.
Pennisetum
'Princess'
New from Athens
Select for 2006, this cultivar is a breakthrough in ornamental grasses.
The purple foliage becomes even purpler as the summer gets hotter, quite a
change to most plants that fade in summer heat. The habit is much fuller than
other purple grasses and the growth is far more vigorous. 'Princess'
doesn't flower unless winter temperatures remain above freezing. Not
recommended for landscapes where a hard freeze doesn't occur by December 1, due
to reseeding issues.
Echinacea
X 'Twilight'
Echinacea Twilight ppaf is the third new coneflower in the Big Sky series from
Atlanta’s ItSaul Plants. Rose petals surround a unique red cone. 24" high,
Twilight is also heavily branched and fragrant.
Echinacea
'Evan Saul' PPAF
Also known as Sundown, this is the
2nd intense orange coneflower from ItSaul Plants. Standing 8-10" taller
than Sunset, Sundown's flowers are slightly smaller but possibly more prolific.
Fragrant, superb garden cut flower, and butterfly attractor.
Looking for drought tolerant
plants? click here
Habersham Gardens carries a large assortment of drought and heat
tolerant plants, including a wide selection of plants native to the region.
Don't be fooled into thinking that just because they are drought tolerant that
you can't have a colorful garden full of flowers! If you'd like to know more
about drought tolerant plants, stop by and ask an associate for a list and a
tour to look at some of them.
Glazed containers are hot! Add color to a corner of your garden,
flank your front entry door or use them as a fountain. Containers are a great
way to compliment your perennial garden with a punch of color while the
perennials are getting ready to burst into bloom. We have a large selection to
choose from and our sales staff is on-hand to help you plant them.
